A new year, a new color.
Each year, paint companies name a new color their color of the year, capturing what they see as the new trendiest color. Here are the new colors, according to leading industry brands.
Move over unicorns: you’re too fancy to be minimalists. According to GLIDDEN paints by PPG, it’s time to stop getting caught up in a fantasy and bring it back to the basics with the most forgotten neutral – black. Glidden paints is keeping it easy and authentic in naming Deep Onyx, a no-fuss shade of black, as the 2018 Color of the Year.
“Using a black paint color like Deep Onyx on your walls or in your decor may feel intimidating at first, but it’s actually one of the easiest colors to use to create the low-key, easygoing style that’s trending for 2018,” said Misty Yeomans, PPG color marketing manager, Glidden paints
Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year, Caliente AF-290, is strong, radiant and full of energy. Caliente is a deep red that will stand out in any space. The bold hue pairs best with neutrals and other bright hues, such as pink, peachy tones.
"Caliente is the signature color of a modern architectural masterpiece; a lush carpet rolled out for a grand arrival; the assured backdrop for a book-lined library; a powerful first impression on a glossy front door. The eye can’t help but follow its bold strokes. Harness the vitality.”
