Free Outdoor Movies In and Around Atlanta

What’s even better than movie theater popcorn? Bringing your own favorite food and drinks, and getting to watch the movie outdoors. Yes, that’s right Georgia has officially brought back drive-in movie theaters-2017 style.  Whether you bring the kids for family movie night or romantic date night, here are the top outdoor movie theaters, in and around Atlanta, for this summer.

 

Movies in the Park

Where: North Georgia (Alpharetta, Canton, Cumming, Dawsonville, and Woodstock)

You can personally thank Northside Hospital for putting together this free outdoor movie series. Going on their 11th year,  Northside Hospital is showing all of your favorite kid-friendly movies in a few of North Georgia’s unique and historic locations. The hard part is going to be choosing to enjoy a movie with your family under Cumming’s twinkling stars and lights, on the water of Lake Lanier in  Dawsonville, in the mountains of Dawsonville, or in downtown historic Woodstock. Whichever location you choose the scenery will be half the fun of these outdoor movies.  Oh and did we mention that these movies are all put on by one of the largest producers of high-quality outdoor movie events in the world, you’re not going to want to miss out.

 

Movies in Central Park

Where: Atlantic Station

What’s better than an outdoor movie- an outdoor FREE movie! Every Thursday until August 3rd, Atlantic station welcomes you and any of your favorite movie watching treats that you want to bring. This year they are fully embracing the throwback theme and are showing only movies from 1990-2000. Bring on the nostalgia!

 

 

B at the Movies

Where: 14 Metro Atlanta Locations

McDonald’s and EMC security presents…B at the Movies. If you are an Atlanta native there is no excuse to miss out on this free outdoor movie series, because the offer 14 locations in Metro Atlanta. These fun family films are all screened on a gigantic 45’ screen. They welcome you, your little ones, and everything from picnic baskets to coolers.  Make sure you to check out their schedule so you don’t miss out on a free family outing right in your neighborhood.

 

Movies on the Town

Where: Town Brookhaven

Beginning at Dusk, Town Brookhaven will be showing free family friendly movies every Thursday for the months of June and July. They encourage you to bring your favorite blankets and chairs, grab a bite from one of the local restaurants in the square, and enjoy a free movie with your family. They ask that you don’t bring outside food or drinks, but you won’t want to once you see the different restaurants that is housed the area.  You won’t want to miss out on the line up they have put together, check it out.

 

Flicks on the Bricks

Where: Duluth

On the first of every month you can find a crowd, blankets and chairs in hand,  together at the Duluth city square ready to watch their favorite free outdoor movie. Located on the grass right next to their famous fountain, these movies go through the month of September. This is great news, because most of the outdoor movies end in August. So, when the temperature starts to cool bring an extra blanket and head out to Duluth for one last free outdoor movie.

 

Dodd After Dark

Where: GA Tech  Campus

Calling all Jacket fans…or just plain old movie fans, both are going to want to hear about what is going on at Georgia Tech this summer. Teaming with Georgia Tech Student Athletics, the Georgia Tech Student Center has come together to plan three free outdoor movie screenings. One screening is right on the field of the Bobby Dodd Stadium. They have created the perfect blend of family friendly movies and films for older audiences.
