Georgia's Food Truck Round Up

While Atlanta is home to many of the latest and greatest restaurants (Two Urban Licks, Marcel, and the Optimist, just to name a few), I have seen people stand outside in the 98 degree summer heat to wait for food made inside a truck at local parks, and before this scene became the cool (and delicious) thing to do, I definitely gave these people some strange looks. Now, however, you can find me among that very crowd (more often that I’d like to admit). Having developed over the last few years, the Food Truck trend of Atlanta has really made its way not only in several neighborhoods but also into many weekly calendars. As long as you’re okay with sacrificing some AC, you definitely want to give these Food Trucks a shot and explore many different local tastes in whatever attire and at whatever time that accommodates your schedule. And to save you some time (and excuses), we’ve gathered the details for you.

Brookhaven
Food Truck Nights: Wednesday’s 5pm-9pm, Blackburn Park, 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Rd NE
Enjoy a night in the park and chow down on Happy Belly Truck, Flatbread Bistro, Bollywood Zing, Gotta Have It Catering, Nana G’s Chik-n-Waffles Yumbii, Ibiza Bites, UrbanTaali, Cape Pies, the Pickle, Taste of Brazil Authentic Brazilian Cuisine, King of Pops, Ice Ice Lady, and Not As Famous Cookie Company.

Midtown
Street Food Thursday’s: 11am-2pm, corners of Peachtree St. & 10th St., Peachtree St. & 7th St., and Peachtree & 15th St.
Don’t bother packing (or “accidentally” forget when your spouse asks) your turkey sandwich, apple, and chips if you work or live anywhere near these corners. There is nothing better than a solid lunch to make your afternoon lull go away, and for your coworker’s sake, don’t leave your tastebuds angry or disappointed.
Atlanta Food Truck Park: Friday 5-9pm, Saturday Noon-10pm, Sunday Noon-8pm, 1850 Howell Mill Rd NE Atlanta, GA 30318
Regardless if you live close to Midtown, Atlanta Food Truck Park is a must when experiencing local food and true food truck cuisine. Instead of ordering pizza on a Friday night, call up your friends, throw on some super casual clothes, and spend your evening under the lights enjoying Sweet Auburn BBQ, Honeysuckle Gelato, and Blaxican Mexican Soulfood.

Alpharetta
Food Truck Alley: Thursday’s 5pm-9pm, 37 Old Roswell St. Alpharetta, GA 30009
Pack a lawn chair or picnic blanket and listen to live music while enjoying local beer and wine, over 8 different food trucks, and 3 dessert trucks with your friends and community.

Marietta
“Dinner at the Depot”: Monday’s 5:30-8:30pm, 2829 Cherokee Street Kennesaw, GA 30144
Take the night off from cooking and designate every Monday as “Dinner at the Depot” on your weekly grocery list. Not only can you enjoy all types of family friendly food, but you can even buy your produce at the same time, as the Kennesaw Farmer’s Market partners with the Depot and is open until 7:30pm.

Smyrna
Food Truck Tuesday’s: 5pm-9pm, 3180 Atlanta Road Smyrna, GA 30080
Take your Tuesday to Taylor-Brawner Park, support local artists, let the kids get their last minute bedtime energy out, and eat the meal you wish you could make at home.
