Metro Atlanta’s Best Schools and Smartest Zip Codes: Round 1

Well parents, it’s that time of year again, when youngsters say goodbye to summer and hello to another year of school. Had you started pulling out your hair yet? If you’re contemplating a move, the stress is probably doubled, since school districts are one of the most important determining factors for buyers with little (and not-so-little) ones. With that conundrum in mind, we present for your viewing pleasure a roundup of Atlanta’s smartest zip codes, as reported by greatschools.org, which is one of the best on-line resources for everything education. To create the list, we looked at which metro Atlanta zip codes reported “perfect 10” scores when it came to the top elementary, middle, and high schools; current pricing information was sourced from Trulia.com. Take a look!

Marietta

30066 - Davis Elementary and Mountain View Elementary Schools, Mabry Middle School, and Lassiter and Sprayberry High Schools

Not surprisingly, East Cobb tops out this list; 30066 is the northern part of this popular area. The average listing price is $303,976, and the median sales price is $164,875.

30062 - Garrison Mill Elementary School, Dodgen and Hightower Trail Middle Schools, and Pope and Walton High Schools

East Cobb scores again, with 30062 located directly south of 30066. It’s a little more expensive here: the average listing price is $333,591, and the median sales price is $239,920.

Alpharetta

30022 - Barnwell, Dolvin, and Medlock Bridge Elementary Schools; Autrey Mill and Taylor Road Middle Schools; and Chattahoochee High School

30022 encompasses the affluent area south of Alpharetta and east of GA-400 that includes North Point Mall and a slew of subdivisions. The average listing price is $470,517, and the median sales price is $285,500.

30004 - Crabapple Crossing Elementary School, Fulton Science Academy and Northwestern Middle Schools, and Milton High School

North of Alpharetta and west of GA-400 is the 30004 zip code, which is characterized by homes on large lots and equestrian farms. It’s quite pricey here: the average listing price is $564,168, and the median sales price is $298,990.
