Over-the-Top-Property of the Week: The Most Expensive Penthouse in Buckhead is New to the Market

Posted on 20, August 2012 by csadmin

Watch out Atlanta: there’s a new kid in town with rights to the title “Most Expensive Condo Listing in Town.” We’re talking about a $9,000,000+ two story penthouse unit at 2500 Peachtree, the yellow and white Neoclassically-inspired condo building where Lindbergh Drive meets Peachtree Road near the heart of Buckhead. The layout and finishes of this singular unit are the result of a custom 2007 buildout, and it’s safe to say the results are still spectacular five years later. Given that the closest comparable condos are priced at millions of dollars less, it might be a little lonely a the top for this unit. But it only takes one buyer...

Looking at listing photos for this penthouse, one descriptor seems completely appropriate: museum quality. That’s not to say the place doesn’t look completely livable. If anything it’s a warm modernism, almost like the Frasier apartment, right? Throughout the unit you’ll find plenty of custom cabinetry in all the right places that takes care of a concern felt by many condo residents: storage. Also wood-tastic are the ceilings in a few of the rooms. They’re paneled and curved and downright cool, with some of them featuring specially lit openings that mimic skylights. A well done black cornice reveal throughout the interior connects the various spaces - if you know something about construction you’ll understand how much more laborious that kind of detail is than a traditional crown molding. If you don’t, well let’s just say it’s an easy thing to get wrong. Also thoughtful are all the spaces for displaying art - hope you’ve got a stellar collection!

The more formal spaces do plenty to impress, like the neutral-with-pops-of-color living room, a banquet sized dining room, and a glassy staircase that doubles as a sculptural piece. But the most enticing rooms are those that get a little more intimate. Take the large room that houses the kitchen. It’s got plenty of space for a catering team, but you could also see yourself there making a midnight PB&J and eating it in the cozy breakfast nook. The master bathroom takes on an ethereal feeling with its pure white mosaic tile and frosted glass - space for the gigantic shower takes up what amounts to another room! Also over-sized is the terrace, replete with a green collection of potted plants and enticing covered seating areas. With a bottle of wine (or two), the right people, and Atlanta’s weather, it could easily be your own slice of penthouse heaven.
