We at Clickscape have a special, slightly dorky place in our hearts for rankings, especially when they relate to real estate. In particular, Atlanta’s trusty weekly paper Creative Loafing puts out an annual Best of Atlanta issue and it never fails to entertain. The rankings are completely subjective so it's fun to see what people are thinking at the moment. Let’s take a look at which neighborhoods critics and readers crowned as winners in 2010. Yes, I know this is belated, but better late than never right?
Best Overall Neighborhood: Poncey Highland
Best Bet For Next Hot Hood: Old Fourth Ward
Best Recession-Proof Neighborhood: Westside
Best Neighborhood For After-Hours: Buford Highway
Best Underestimated Suburb: Marietta
Readers Picks (and runner-ups)
Best Neighborhood For Nightlife: East Atlanta; Virginia Highland
Best Neighborhood For Yard Sales: Virginia Highland; Candler Park and Decatur
Best Neighborhood To Live In Without A Car: Midtown; Decatur
Best Suburb: Decatur; Roswell
So there you have it. Clearly this is skewed toward intown areas, but Marietta and Roswell deserve their spots up there with the cool kids. Keep an eye out in September for the 2011 rankings, when we'll see who lost their luster and who still reigns.
