Revised July 26 Deadline For Most Fulton County Property Tax Appeals

Posted on 13, June 2011 by csadmin

If you own property in Fulton County, listen up! Corrected tax notices just went out this past weekend for about 70% of properties, which pushes back the deadline for appealing to July 26th (45 days after the notices were mailed). The original deadline had been June 21st, but when many taxpayers noticed erroneous charges and incorrect amounts on their estimated tax notices, the ensuing uproar persuaded the Fulton County Assessor’s office to correct the notices and give folks more time to appeal.

This only applies to property owners in Atlanta and nine other cities in the county, though. If you live in Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Chattahoochee Hills, Mountain Park, and unincorporated South Fulton, you will not receive a new notice and must still appeal by the old June 21st deadline, which is just over a week from today--you'd better hustle!

Read more about appealing property taxes on the Georgia Department of Revenue site and on the Fulton County Assessor’s “How To Appeal” page.
