Attention lovers of all things domestic: the Atlanta Home Show is this weekend! Although the event will be back for another round this fall like every year, why put off what you can do today? The three day extravaganza will bring together 350 vendors and exhibitors vying for your attention, so before you go, mentally prepare for a home improvement overload. Even those Sundays spent watching nothing but HGTV for hours upon hours won’t brace you for this shindig.
First, the when, where, and wallet requirements. The Atlanta Home Show takes place March 23rd and March 24th from 10am-6pm, and March 25th from 12-6pm. It’s conveniently located at the Cobb Galleria, where I-75 meets I-285. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $15 for a multi-day pass, and kids under 12 and over 65 get in for free.
The AHS usually features “headliners” as a way to boost interest, and this year is no exception. You’ll recognize Carter Oosterhouse as the suave, beautifully maned gentleman from those Rooms-to-Go commercials, as well as the “Kitchen Cousins” from the HGTV show who will be leading design seminars on Saturday. A few of the other topics explored through seminars include “Ideas for Outdoor Living Spaces on a Budget,” “Adding Architectural Interest to Your Home,” and the somewhat dire sounding “Is Your Deck an Accident Waiting to Happen?”
There’s nary an area of residential interest not highlighted by the exhibitors group. This includes architects, pet products, millwork vendors, spas, decorators, builders, security systems - if you can think of it, it’s probably represented. But it’s not all about shopping. At the AHS you also find cooking demonstrations, new product launches, and kids activities. Other highlights include a wine tasting sponsored by the Buckhead Pizza Co. that benefits HOPE Atlanta; the “SeeThru House” that allows you to see the actual inner workings of a 2,500 square feet home; and the Aging in Place presentation that explores the super trendy elements of Universal Design. See you at the show!
